Goals
Short Term Personal Goal: Establishing a Work/Life Balance
-
As a newly established Family Nurse Practitioner, I am committed to cultivating a healthy work-life balance that not only enhances my personal well-being but also allows me to provide the highest quality of care to my patients. By prioritizing self-care and time management, I aim to maintain my energy and enthusiasm, ensuring that I am fully present and engaged in my practice. This approach will enable me to foster strong patient relationships, contribute positively to team dynamics, and ultimately enhance the overall effectiveness of the healthcare team I am a part of. I will aim to dedicate only 5 extra hours per week to my contracted work hours, reserve at least two evenings each week for family time, exercise, or relaxation, and ensure that I have one full weekend for family activities per month. To prioritize self-care and time with family and friends, I will set a goal to limit work-related messages after hours to promote mental rest. I will review my progress monthly over the five months after starting a new position to make any necessary adjustments, ultimately creating habits that promote a sustainable work-life balance that aligns with both personal well-being and professional responsibilities. supporting my mental and physical well-being and enabling me to provide better care for my patients.
Long Term Professional Goal: Become a Certified Wound Specialist
Long Term Goal Steps: Become a Certified Wound Specialist Purposed Time-line
-
My goal is to become a Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) through the American Board of Wound Management within one year of completing my Nurse Practitioner Boards. To achieve this, I will complete the required coursework set forth by the American Board of Wound Management, accumulate an additional year of wound care experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), and build on the years of wound care experience I already have as a Registered Nurse. My goal is to pass the CWS exam by August 2026. If I do not meet the experience requirement, I will prepare to take the Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) Candidate exam while continuing to gain additional wound care experience. Earning this certification will enhance my clinical skills and improve patient care in my practice, aligning with my professional goals as a Nurse Practitioner.
